Designed specifically for you and supported by your professional association – the British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) – don’t miss the Dental Nurses Forum 2018.

One of the key features for dental nurses at the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show this May, the lecture programme will be presented by leading speakers in the field, including Diane Rochaford, Carole Houston, Deborah Lyle, Isis Buffonge, Katy Kerr, Leonora Ward and Chris Curtis. It will cover a wide spectrum of relevant and inspiring topics from caring for patients with head and neck cancer to the role of the dental nurse in implantology and looking after older patients. With such a varied line-up, there is sure to be something to interest everyone.

There will be many chances for delegates to develop their knowledge and practical skills that can enhance their daily practice, including in the area of dental photography.

“Dental photography is a skill that dental nurses can learn to assist the dentist in their work, regardless of the type of dental treatment they are doing.” Diane Rochford, a dental hygienist who will be sharing her expertise on the subject, says. “By developing photography skills, the dental nurse can become more directly involved in treatment procedures. They also have the opportunity to take on more responsibilities, advance their knowledge and skills, and feel more valued as a team member.”

Carole Houston, Communication and Marketing Lead for Delphi Medical, will be encouraging delegates to develop their understanding for those with addictions and mental health issues.

“I think my lecture topic is relevant for professionals right now, because there is a growing community of people in the UK with addiction, mental health and homelessness issues,” Carole comments. “I hope delegates will understand a little more about mental health issues connected with addiction/recovery and be less frightened of offering preventative care in the community, using volunteer dentists and dental care practitioners.”

Deborah Lyle, Director of Professional and Clinical Affairs at Water Pik, Inc. will be addressing the different needs of patients at varying stages of life. She says:

“I hope delegates take away that we should be careful of preconceived ideas and get to know patients as individuals. Generational ideas aren’t set in stone, and I’ve known plenty of older patients who have Facebook accounts or who are still in the workforce. It’s important to understand that all patients are different and won’t necessarily fall into the categories that we expect them to.”

In addition to the diverse education on offer in the Dental Nurses Forum, CORE CPD Theatre and Compliance Clinic among others, the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show will also host an extensive trade exhibition. Discover all the very latest oral health products, cutting-edge technologies and training courses and liaise with the experts for all the information and guidance you could need. Enjoy time with colleagues and friends, while also networking with representatives from a vast range of manufacturers and suppliers. Plus, the BADN will be on stand J98 if you’d like to come and say hello or find out more about the membership benefits available right now.

Deborah Lyle concludes:

“What I love most about this Show is the diversity of topics! You can be right in the exhibition, gain valuable CPD hours and share ideas and interests with people who are enthusiastic about their profession.”
