The ADI Team Congress 2019 will present the ideal opportunity for dental professionals to bring themselves up-to-date with all the very latest news, ideas and techniques in the field of dental implantology. An outstanding line-up of internationally renowned speakers will cover a wide range of relevant topics, demonstrating their own proven protocols with inspiring case studies and scientific research.

Mark Montana will be among those speaking in the plenary programme. Mark graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Dentistry in 1987, completing a Certification in Advanced Prosthodontics two years later. He has focused primarily on fixed, removable and dental implant-retained prosthodontics in private practice since then, and has worked as a clinical instructor at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. Mark has lectured extensively in the USA and abroad, and is a member of various professional organisations including the Academy of Osseointegration, Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, The Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontists, American Prosthodontics Society and both the American and Arizona Dental Associations.

Mark will be presenting “Making Contact and Staying in Touch” at the ADI Team Congress 2019. He will explore the challenges of placing a static dental implant into the dynamic oral environment. As something that will affect a high percentage of dental implant treatments, this is a topic that all professionals involved in the restoration of dental implants will be interested in.

Mark says:

“The incidence of open contact occurring between natural teeth and adjacent dental implant restorations is greater than 50%, as reported in the scientific literature. Therefore, it will impact any and every dentist involved in dental implant restoration, more than half of the time.

“The loss of contact is due to the dynamic character of natural teeth in association with a static neighbour – the dental implant. Human teeth inherently move, primarily in a mesial direction as a consequence of our evolutionary development and thus they drift away from the immobile dental implant directly posterior to it.

“The risks associated with open contacts include inflammation of the soft tissue and a higher caries rate in the adjacent natural teeth. Therefore, greater attention must be paid to these open contact occurrences and restoration design should be modified in order to allow easier correction of the problem.”

Mark’s lecture will go into further detail as to why these open contacts occur and the potential consequences on treatment outcomes. He will also share his extensive experience to help delegates avoid issues and overcome any complications that are faced.

“It is my hope that delegates will become more aware of the phenomenon and therefore begin to recognise it in their patient population,” Mark adds. “I will provide solutions for correction when they are indicated.”

The ADI Team Congress 2019 will provide the perfect platform from which all dental professionals – including dentists, technicians, dental nurses, practice managers, dental hygienists, dental therapists and students – can develop their knowledge and skills. Fantastic speakers will offer a wealth of information, practical advice and inspiration, sharing best practice from around the globe.

The lecture programme will be complemented by Corporate Forums, which will provide a unique opportunity to hear about the latest solutions and concepts available, with insight also provided on future innovations. In addition, the major exhibition will feature an array of other products, materials and technologies for delegates to discover. With experts on hand to offer information and guidance, professionals can be sure to find everything they need to take their dentistry to the next level.

Further still, the ADI Team Congress 2019 will be a great place to network with like-minded professionals from all corners of dentistry who all share the same passion for excellence. Not only does this give you a chance to make new connections, but it also means you can stay in touch with your friends and colleagues.

“The sharing of experiences and exposure to new ideas is the hallmark of continuing education,” says Mark. “As dentists, it is convenient and comfortable to settle into our practice reality, but the ADI Team Congress is a wonderful opportunity to learn from each other and improve ourselves.”
