The distinguished British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) has always remained committed to helping dental professionals develop their skills and enhance their knowledge. That is why the BACD is proudly supporting a two-day programme of insightful lectures at the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show.

Every member of the dental team is invited to join the Academy at the BACD Aesthetic & Digital Dentist Theatre, which will provide the perfect platform to explore key subjects and trends within cosmetic dentistry as they relate to modern practice. The impressive line-up of speakers will be offering valuable insights on the benefits of providing a combination of cosmetic dental treatments to improve patients’ dental function and aesthetics, enabling practitioners to grow their businesses in this rapidly evolving field.

As a dedicated member of the BACD’s Board of Directors, Dr Oliver Harman is ideally placed to kick-start two days of exciting presentations with a session that will detail what delegates need to know to be a cosmetic dentist, and why photography is crucial to evaluating and improving the quality of a clinician’s cosmetic dental work. Dr Harman will also be discussing the Academy’s learning pathway and how it could lead to BACD Accreditation – a prestigious accolade that is awarded to clinicians based on their ability to deliver consistently high quality cosmetic dentistry.

For clinicians looking to create their own composite masterpieces, Dr Serhat Köken’s lecture could prove particularly useful. Here, Dr Köken will look at the clinical aspects of anterior composites, including choosing the correct shade, preparation tips, layering composites, and tricks for finishing and polishing to ensure a natural-looking result. Following this, Dr Minesh Patel will deliver a concise and visual presentation on modern dental photography, which will explore techniques designed to take better photos and how these can be used to enhance communication.

Among other experienced practitioners is Dr Mark Hughes, who will be taking the stage to present a highly informative session entitled, “Using Invisalign™ in complex multidisciplinary cases: pre-restorative alignment – when, how and why?”. Dr Ian Buckle will also provide his professional insights on “A complete digital dentistry workflow”, exploring how technology can facilitate improved treatment outcomes.

In addition, the BACD Aesthetic & Digital Dentist Theatre will serve as the ideal stage for Dr Andrew Wallace to present an overview of the ABB (Align, Bleach, Bond) technique as a minimally invasive alternative to traditional veneers. Dr Wallace will discuss the practical skills involved with implementing the ABB technique and how it can provide patients with a highly aesthetic result without any tooth cutting or preparation. Delegates can also find out how to achieve the best tooth whitening outcomes.

As far as Dr Dominic Hassall is concerned, dental implants are fully established as a treatment option in general practice. However, with ever increasing patient expectations, it has never been more important to avoid a compromised result and a disappointed patient, which is why Dr Hassall is eager to lead a session on “Improving aesthetic outcomes in implant dentistry”. Delegates will be able to explore the importance of carrying out implant risk assessments prior to and after tooth extraction to better predict the aesthetic outcome of implant treatment.

During Dr Joao Borges’ presentation entitled, “How to achieve long-term success in complex aesthetic rehabilitations”, delegates can learn more about Dr Borges’ holistic and predictable way of achieving aesthetic, functional and biological long-term success in complex rehabilitations. By the end of this presentation, delegates should be able to effectively diagnose and treatment plan for more involved aesthetic cases.

Dr Ashish B. Parmar is also looking forward to delivering his lecture entitled, “Fibres and composite dentistry in general practice – Innovative minimally invasive treatment solutions”. This will be an interesting presentation for delegates who are keen to explore the wide range of minimally invasive treatment techniques that can be implemented using fibres and composites.

With lectures in the BACD Aesthetic & Digital Dentist Theatre covering various topics and the latest industry trends, there will be something on offer for the whole dental team. Further still, the BACD Lounge will provide the opportunity for delegates to find out more about the benefits of membership to the BACD. This includes access to educational events like Recommended Meetings and the celebrated Annual Conference – both of which enable dental professionals to expand on their expertise and network with likeminded individuals.

There’s no doubt that the BACD Aesthetic & Digital Dentist Theatre will be buzzing with activity, as delegates come together to share their interest and passion for cosmetic dentistry.
