Actions are louder than words

Words are important. They provide a way to communicate with others, to safely convey feelings and to offer reassurance or comfort. However, they can mean very little if the appropriate actions do not back up the words said.

At Colosseum Dental UK, we make promises to our people and we show our commitment by delivering on those promises wherever we can. We’re not afraid of being singled out in the market and we are constantly striving to ensure it is for all the right reasons. We believe in taking action where action is needed, implementing changes and accepting responsibility for aspects of the business that we can manage or contribute to.

We care more

A key ethos behind Colosseum Dental UK is that we care more. We care more about our people and our patients, and so it’s important to us that we show this in the actions that we take.

Mike Clare, Chief Executive Officer of Colosseum Dental UK, comments:

“We care more in everything that we do. It’s easy to say and much harder to deliver, but I’m passionate that we show we care more for people coming into the organisation through career development. Ultimately, we want to be a great place to work where people enjoy being and they are at their absolute best because of the way they feel.

“We show that we care more in all the decisions we are making, not just for today or tomorrow, but for the long-term. We make these with sincerity and a deep-rooted believe that we are trying to do the right thing by the business, by the people in the business and by patients. We’re fun, we’re down-to-earth and I think we have a great personality.”

Dr Eddie Coyle, Clinical Director for Colosseum Dental UK, adds:

“Leading with care is one of our mantras. It is absolutely part of our DNA. We want to get to a situation where every member of our team and every patient that comes through our door feels as though they have been considered in every decision that we make, which protects them, delivers a fantastic experience, looks after them as colleagues, and makes Colosseum Dental the place to have your care and also to work.”

Caring more about our dental nurses

So, how does this translate in the way we treat and what we offer our dental nurses?

It is a sad fact that many dental nurses are underappreciated in the industry today. This is not the case at Colosseum Dental UK and we have done and continue to do what we can to prove this.

The Year of the Dental Nurse has been a key initiative for us recently. It gave us an opportunity to review what we provide these key members of our practice teams and to improve. As such, we are proud to now offer all our dental nurses:

  • Highly competitive pay – we actually implemented pay rises at a time when most dental providers were making cuts and/or redundancies
  • Equal pay opportunities among all age groups – ensuring total equality and pay based on skill
  • Training for additional skills that benefit patients – which we will pay for
  • Pay that recognises additional skills – we will then pay you more upon qualifying with extra skills
  • Comfortable, high-quality Pastelli uniforms – because your comfort is crucial if you are to do your job to the best of your abilities
  • Enhanced annual leave for long-standing dental nurses – just our way of saying thank you for your years of commitment to our patients

Always aiming higher

To avoid complacency, we are always looking for new ways to improve the career development opportunities and working environment for our dental nurses. Individuals are encouraged to share ideas and make suggestions if they feel there are other ways for us to show that we care more. We are also looking for new dental nurses to join our clinics as we grow. If you could be a good fit, visit the website to find out more.
