Colosseum Dental UK is committed to facilitating career development for every single member of its practice teams. The organisation is driven by a passionate belief in training and education, flexibility and support.

Emma Peacock is the practice manager of Colosseum Dental UK’s Oval Dental Practice. She shares her experience of working with the company and the collaborative approach she has been able to take to ensure a good work-life balance:

“I was at the practice when Colosseum took over in 2018 – I have been at the practice for over 22 years in total. I have seen a number of changes in that time, but in general, the transition with Colosseum was made simple and painless.

“Colosseum has been fantastic in terms of flexibility for me. Since I came back from maternity leave, I have been able to work a shorter lunch and finish earlier so that I can pick my child up on time, and they have been very accommodating with this. Even though I don’t live too close to the clinic, I have stayed within the company because they have always been flexible with my working pattern. I have been asked to help in other clinics where needed and they have always taken my needs into consideration for this, which makes it easier for me to be able to offer out support. In return, if I need anything the support is always available – through many channels within the company.”

Communication is a big part of the close collaboration needed to make this kind of working relationship a success. In every situation, Colosseum Dental UK is keen to keep all its people in the loop. Emma continues:

“We have seen leadership and regional manager changes in last few years, but there has always been good communication within the company regarding what’s going on and what the plans are moving forward. Also, whoever has come in has always made sure they address the practices to keep us all updated, alongside visiting the clinics to make sure there is a personal aspect. No one is just a number within a business.”

Reflecting on her own career development, Emma has taken on many new roles and responsibilities, most recently while working directly with Colosseum. She says:

“I started working at the clinic as a trainee nurse, then qualified and went on to become a lead dental nurse, followed by practice manager and then multisite manager. There are always opportunities to move forward and push yourself all at your own pace with Colosseum Dental UK.”

Summarising her experience with Colosseum as a great place to work. Emma adds:

“I would most certainly recommend working with Colosseum to others. Life is full of changes that we should try and embrace – change isn’t always a bad thing. I have learnt so much and been encouraged to try and push myself, but always with any help and support I have needed.”
