An oral health update for the whole dental team

The Oral Health Theatre at BDIA Dental Showcase provided a varied and exciting programme for all members of the team to enjoy.
From career pathways into implantology for dental nurses with Laura Hardy to air polishing for dental hygienists with Cat Edney, and the business of implementing a dental therapist with Fiona Sandom, there really was something for everyone.
Appropriate for all team members was Miranda Steeples’ session on making every contact count and Dr Kunal Shah’s presentation on the impact of AI on modern dentistry. Dental professionals also made the most of a session on mental health and wellbeing with Fiona Ellwood and an update on mouth cancer with Dr Mahesh Kumar.
Dr Celia Burns from Nothing But The Tooth, commented:
“This was a really helpful talk that was appropriately pitched for GDPs. It was useful to hear the details of the 2-week wait referral guidelines. Time flew by as the talk had plenty of clinical examples, which were also helpful to illustrate what we are looking for.”
