The Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA) have launched a new, completely free e-learning resource, designed specifically to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – such as dental practices – build an effective workplace response to domestic abuse, with clearer guidance, practical tools, and a simple, manageable way to take action. Domestic abuse affects millions of people, including members of the dental workforce – often silently.
Developed with support from the City of London Corporation (an EIDA Beacon Member), the module provides a step-by-step guide to help recognise the signs of domestic abuse, respond safely and confidently, and put the right support in place for employees. The module is available to every organisation in the UK, and dental practices are encouraged to share it with other practices, or suppliers, who may benefit.
No prior knowledge is needed, just a commitment to making your workplace a safer place for everyone. Contact support@eida.org.uk with any questions.
The British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) – the UK’s professional association and independent trade union for dental nurses – is a member of EIDA. BADN has produced an advice sheet and policy for practices to adopt. This may be downloaded at www.badn.org.uk/Non-Members – click on “Dental Nursing Support Materials”.
