The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) has launched Dental Health Matters, a new podcast support, inform and connect dental hygienists and dental therapists across the UK. The podcast will be hosted by BSDHT President, Rhiannon Jones, with guest hosts and contributors joining throughout the series.

Dental Health Matters will be available in both video and audio format on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music and YouTube, ensuring easy access at home, between appointments or on the commute. Find the latest episodes at https://www.bsdht.org.uk/podcast/

The first three episodes are available now. The opening episode features Dr Mahrukh Khwaja, founder of Mind Ninja, who explores practical, evidence-informed approaches to prioritising self-care and supporting emotional resilience in the dental profession. Episode 2 sees Professor Mike Lewis and Jocelyn Harding leading a conversation on early detection of mouth cancer and clear, confident patient communication. And, in Episode 3, Rhiannon Jones and BSDHT President Elect Simone Ruzario reflect on the past year and look ahead to 2026 in conversation with guest host James Cooke, Editor of The Probe and Smile Oral Health Matters.

Commenting on the launch, Rhiannon said: ‘Our profession thrives on shared learning, connection and support. This podcast creates a space for open, practical and uplifting conversations that reflect real life in practice. I am excited to share stories, ideas and insights that inspire confidence and pride in the amazing work dental hygienists and dental therapists do every day.’

Corporate Friends supporting the launch

The BSDHT is proud to launch Dental Health Matters in collaboration with three Corporate Friends: EMS, Oral-B and TePe. Their involvement reflects a shared commitment to improving oral health outcomes through education, prevention and empowered practice, and enables the podcast to remain freely accessible to the profession.

Representing TePe, Miranda Pascucci, Head of Clinical Education, shared how aligned the partnership feels: ‘We at TePe have partnered with BSDHT to reinforce our shared commitment to advancing education and promoting better oral health.
