To mark World Oral Health Day 2026, four of the world’s most respected voices in periodontology will come together for a global, evidence based discussion on tackling the periodontal disease crisis, as part of Principles for Oral Health, by SEPA, sponsored by LISTERINE®.

Taking place on 19 March 2026 at 7.00 pm GMT, the live webinar will feature Professor Mariano Sanz, Professor Elena Figuero, Professor Gustavo Avila Ortiz and Professor Iain Chapple, offering a reflective 40 year perspective on progress in periodontal science while confronting the continued global rise in periodontal disease.

Since its launch in 2024, Principles for Oral Health has become a reference point for clinicians worldwide seeking to strengthen preventive pathways and align daily practice with global evidence. Developed to provide a clear, science led framework for prevention, the initiative translates global evidence and consensus into practical, everyday guidance for oral health professionals. Grounded in the latest research and aligned with EFP S3 level clinical guidelines, it places consistency, prevention and patient self care at the centre of long term periodontal health.

Across 2025, the programme featured prominently at major global milestones, including EuroPerio11 and the FDI World Dental Congress in Shanghai, contributing to international dialogue on periodontal health, prevention and the links between oral and systemic disease.

Later in the year, a landmark moment saw the first global live link between the SEPA AGM in Barcelona and the British Society of Periodontology at the Oral Health Summit in Edinburgh, reinforcing the programme’s commitment to shared learning, collaboration and global alignment.

This latest webinar builds directly on that momentum, positioning 2026 as a year focused not only on evidence, but on implementation and impact. During the session, oral healthcare professionals will gain insight into current global trends in periodontal disease, evidence based guidance drawn from EFP S3 level recommendations and the Principles for Oral Health report, and clear, actionable strategies to translate global guidelines into everyday prevention and patient self care.

The discussion will emphasise the need for a paradigm shift in how periodontal health is viewed, communicated and prioritised worldwide. The World Oral Health Day webinar is open to oral healthcare professionals globally.
