Tempdent has announced that, following the February 2026 inspection, Ofsted has recognised the organisation as operating at a Strong Standard. This outcome reflects the quality that has shaped Tempdent’s position as the leading provider of dental apprenticeships in the UK.
The report highlights particularly strong performance in Leadership and Governance, Curriculum Teaching and Training, and Achievement areas, acknowledging the organisation’s clear strategic direction, robust employer partnerships, and commitment to continuous improvement. Ofsted noted that apprentices make substantial progress, produce high-quality work, and develop the essential skills and behaviours required to succeed within the dental profession.
Under Ofsted’s previous inspection framework, this result would have been equivalent to a move from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’, signifying the exceptional learner experience and high-quality provision delivered by Tempdent.
A strong, supportive learning environment
Inspectors commended Tempdent for creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning culture. The report highlights that learners feel well-supported, safe, and encouraged – particularly those with additional needs. Apprentices benefit from high-quality teaching, targeted support, and well-designed training programmes that enable them to achieve strong outcomes.
In addition, Ofsted recognised Tempdent’s safeguarding culture as robust, well-managed, and deeply embedded, ensuring that learners are protected and supported throughout their training journey.
CEO Statement
Lorraine Nadel, CEO of Tempdent, commented:
“We are incredibly proud of the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection. Being recognised as operating at a Strong Standard represents a significant step forward for Tempdent. Under Ofsted’s previous grading system, this would be considered a move from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’, reflecting our focus on quality and exceptional learner experience.
This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our colleagues, the commitment of our apprentices, and the strength of our employer partnerships across the dental sector. We remain focused on continuous improvement and on delivering best in class training that supports our learners to succeed and progress in their careers.”
Understanding Ofsted’s new judgement framework
Ofsted’s recently revised inspection framework replaces single headline grades with a more detailed evaluation across several areas of provision. Providers are now assessed against key themes including:
- Leadership and governance
- Quality of education and training
- Achievement and outcomes
- Inclusion and support
Each area is graded on a five‑point scale ranging from Exceptional to Urgent Improvement. Tempdent’s Strong Standard judgement indicates practice that exceeds the expected level and demonstrates excellence across multiple aspects of provision.
Looking ahead
Tempdent’s strong Ofsted outcome reinforces the organisation’s commitment to delivering high‑quality dental apprenticeships and supporting the development of the dental workforce nationwide. This achievement provides a solid foundation for Tempdent’s continued growth and innovation in apprenticeship training, CPD, and workforce development.
