An outstanding day of education and professional connection brought fresh perspectives on preventive care to London, with EMS donating £12,800 to Bridge2Aid
The GBT Summit World Tour London 2026 brought together leading voices from dentistry and wider healthcare for a packed programme that explored how prevention is changing clinical practice, patient care and the business of dentistry.
Hosted by EMS on 2 October at 30 Euston Square, the event covered hormonal health, periodontal treatment, implant maintenance, artificial intelligence and practice development. Delegates were treated to a day of engaging presentations, lively discussions and plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas with colleagues and speakers, reflecting the enthusiasm that has made the GBT Summit such a popular fixture in the dental calendar.
Harry Morris, General Manager UK & Ireland at EMS, commented: ‘What a fantastic day! I genuinely think this was our best GBT Summit yet. We had a brilliant group of speakers, a fantastic turnout and such a positive atmosphere throughout the day.
‘There was so much interest in the sessions, and it was great to see delegates asking questions, talking to the speakers and sharing their own experiences. That’s exactly what we want from the Summit. I’m really proud of what the team has achieved, and very grateful to everyone who helped make it such a success.’
A fresh look at prevention
Opening keynote speaker Dr Nighat Arif, GP and women’s health specialist, explored the relationship between hormonal and oral health, discussing why the changes women experience throughout their lives deserve greater attention in dental care.
Ben Tighe and Claire Berry, co-hosts of the Your Dental Besties podcast, continued the conversation, considering how a better understanding of menopause and hormonal changes could influence the way dental teams support their patients.
Implant care was another important part of the programme, with Dr Payvand Menhadji, a periodontist, examining implant longevity and the value of ongoing maintenance, while EMS Swiss Dental Academy trainer Louise Warden showed how GBT can be incorporated into the care of implant patients. Periodontist Dr Devan Raindi explored minimally invasive non-surgical therapy and the role of biofilm management in periodontal treatment.
The programme also considered developments that could influence how practices work in the years ahead. Dentist and practice owner Dr Simon Chard joined Dr Christian Leonhart to discuss artificial intelligence in dentistry, while Celso Da Costa, General Manager of EMS, addressed the business of prevention and how practices can make preventive care an integral part of their clinical and commercial approach.
Reflecting on the day, Celso said: ‘Prevention has moved beyond simply removing biofilm. We are learning more about the factors that influence oral health, and that gives us opportunities to understand our patients better and make care more personal.
‘What I hope people took away from the Summit is that we all have a part to play in moving prevention forward. GBT provides a clear protocol, but it is how we apply our clinical knowledge, communicate with patients and work together that makes the difference.’
£12,800 for Bridge2Aid
The Summit also supported an important cause, with EMS donating £12,800 from ticket sales to Bridge2Aid.
Shaenna Loughnane, CEO of Bridge2Aid, commented: ‘Bridge2Aid is delighted to have been part of the EMS GBT Summit. We’d like to send a huge thank you to EMS for donating £12,800 from ticket sales to the charity. This generous support will fund our February Dental Therapist training programme in Sengerema, Tanzania, helping to strengthen the local oral health workforce and improve access to care.
‘It was a pleasure for our founder, Ian, to speak at the summit, and a real joy to meet so many of the attendees and members of the EMS team. We’re grateful for the warm welcome and for the opportunity to share more about Bridge2Aid’s work.’
The Summit reflected EMS’s ongoing focus on education and helping dental professionals develop their approach to preventive care, with the Bridge2Aid donation extending that support to communities where access to oral healthcare remains limited.
