“One of the key things to take away is that the oral hygiene instruction is multifaceted, with so many things to take into consideration.”
This is Dr Claire McCarthy, a clinical teacher, research fellow and dental hygienist who recently completed an iTOP seminar from Curaden. She continues:
“It is important for dental practitioners to think of how to do things and why to do things; the iTOP programme explains this thoroughly. Whether that is spending an hour and a half on interdental brushes or discussing behavioural psychology, the session is constantly educational and weaves in evidence-based research throughout, as well as an invaluable hands-on session.
“The iTOP experience was enriching and inspiring; I was surrounded by people who are really passionate about putting the patient first. We know that oral hygiene is the most important and most effective part of getting patients on the path to lifelong oral health, and I will be taking many messages and ideas back to university when I am teaching oral hygiene.”
